Over the years, many people have played important parts in the lives of the three members of The Club. Some have been good friends to each of us individually, but this page is dedicated specifically to those who have been influential in the lives of all three of us. Thank you to each person on this page, from The Club.
Lindsay Hagwood Probably no other person has been more important to the three of us than Linds. Countless times, Lindsay has been there for whatever we needed- a place to stay, someone to talk to, someone to love us. It is hard to put into words all the things she has meant to these three boys, and so I won't even attempt to. We owe her a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid. Thank you, Lindsay, for everything. We love you.
Nathaniel "Nad" Renner Good old Nad. Sworn in as the first "Honarary Member" of The Club, Nat has been a friend to each of us, and been a part of several of our more notable incidents (namely the Freezing Pond Incident). Today, Nad somehow manages to juggle a family and the insanely demanding challenges of entering dental school. A proud husband and father, Nad has become domesticated. His amazing sons Jackson (almost 2) and Bryant (not yet 1), were brought into this world by his lovely wife (and fellow friend of The Club), Courtney. I was asked to be the godfather of little Bryant, and I don't think I have ever received such and honor. And I couldn't be prouder to be called Jackson's and Bryant's "Uncle Bub."
Abby Cole I have known Abby since fourth grade, and she has been one of the people I am proudest to know. In high school, Abby became a friend to Jay and Twink also, and she remains one of the few people to try and keep in touch with us (well, not Twink so much, because he is way off in Montana). Abby is at Berry College in Georgia now, where she is studying to be a....something that has to do with families. In addition, she keeps a keen eye out not to hit any deer in the road.
Bhavika "Biva" Patel The only Hindu I know, Bhavika has been the reluctant victim of at least two "swirlies," having her car driven (repeatedly) over a dead skunk, and countless uncouth comments- yet, she still managed to find it in her heart not to use all of her 4.5 feet of muscle to kick the crap out of us. On top of that, she also trusted me enough to provide her with some feedback on her goals and a little (probably useless) advice about her ambitions. She even let me try to help her with her fear of kittens, although I would imagine I didn't do a very good job. Biva is now way up in Massachusetts, attending the very-prestigious Boston College and majoring in something or other- let us just hope it is something she wants to do and not something she thinks she has to do.
Genny Liebers The lovely Genny came into the lives of The Club when she started dating Twinkie, and she has been a beautiful addition to our list of friends. With her world-famous hugs, and one of the prettiest smiles around, Genny lights up a room. I think we will all remember her brithday party and the craziness that ensued- not a drop of alcohol, and still we managed to get thrown out of the mall and loiter like homeless persons at super Wal-Mart. We don't see Genny much now, because she is at ETSU, but I'm sure that sometime in the future we will. (And I apologize to Genny for this picture which doesn't do her justice...it was the only one I could find.)
Leah O'Dell Leah is practically the only "old" person who thought we were cool enough to hang out with sometimes. Two years older than us, Leah came into The Club when she began dating Jay. Even after that relationship was over, and despite the fact that she headed off to college well before we did, Leah was still never too cool to stop by and say, "hello" or send an email just to check up on things. One of these days, I am going to take her up on that offer to go snowboarding with her in N.C., and the very existence of such an offer should show just how swell Leah is.
David Burton Dave provided an actual picture of himself for us to display here-- personally, I think the other picture was more enjoyable to look at. Dave first came to our house several years ago to take a picture of some geese for the local paper. Since he was new to the area at the time and needed a place to stay, my mom offered to rent him the upstairs apartment of our store (where I live now). That was his introduction to The Club and our friends. Dave knows just about everybody on this page, and has been a part of much of The Club's history. From his photographing the three of us pulling each other around behind the truck, to the time he and Twinkie got into a fist-fight (and I got it on tape), Dave was a great part of our lives. Mr. Burton is now a corpsman in the U.S. Navy, and is married to a lovely fellow squid, Eve.
